Blue Ridge Boxer Rescue reached out to Chariot Creative in need of a digital revitalization that included branding, website design, and mobile responsive web development. Concerning digital marketing, BRBR clearly needed to upgrade their form and improve their function. As a nonprofit organization that relies almost entirely on their online presence to attract new supporters, the new site needed to be intuitive and inspirational. BRBR holds their animal care practices to high standards – we needed to be sure to convey that in a polished, professional new experience. Volunteers also needed a reliable platform to simplify the process of making daily edits and updates to the site via WordPress content management system.
After some research, identifying market trends, and examining supporter engagement of other similar nonprofits, we devised a concise, effective brand strategy. And sure, this may have consisted of free association scribbles on office scrap paper; however, it quickly turned into an organized sitemap and a set of wireframes (website blueprints). During the mock-up stages, we created a bright and engaging design concept that relies heavily on images to “tell the story”. We provided much of the photography on the site with a focus on emphasizing what the cause is all about: dogs in need. With attention to current trends in how viewers navigate websites and what devices they use, careful thought was put into the layout to display messaging, to provide easy navigation to important pages, and to emphasize the right calls-to-action.
